The first player to score a century in the Indian Premier League (IPL) was Brendon McCullum, a New Zealand cricketer, who achieved this feat in the very first match of the IPL on April 18, 2008. McCullum was playing for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. In that match, McCullum scored a magnificent 158 not out off just 73 balls, which included 13 fours and 10 sixes, helping KKR to a comprehensive victory. This innings by McCullum is still considered one of the greatest in the history of the IPL.
